"I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends"

Mom and Dad woke me on Wednesday (was it?) morning to tell me this funny story. They had just flown to Salt Lake International Airport to join 2/3 of the family for Christmas festivities. Dad was laden with the gifts for all the kids. Dad and Mom walked and talked as they made their way through the airport. As Mom was in the middle of her part of the conversation, Dad was passed by (as Mom described him) "a little Asian man" walking in the opposite direction with two empty courtesy wheelchairs. A few steps later Mom realized that she was walking and talking alone. As she turned to look for Dad she saw him chatting amiably with the man. She watched confused as Dad sat down in one of the wheelchairs and the smaller man began pushing Dad back towards Mom. Apparently, the heavy Christmas load and long airport corridors had prompted Dad to hitch a ride in the courtesy wheelchair. It was a win-win situation. Dad now had a lap to hold his gifts upon and the vacant wheelchair now had someone to keep it company. Dad rode in style the rest of the way to baggage claim.
